Singapore Viewers Tune in to Idol Finale

Some 1.8 million viewers tuned in to the finale of Singapore Idol on Wednesday night on MediaCorp’s Channel 5, making the show the most-watched English-language program since 2001 in this island nation of some 4.5 million people.

Taufik: 'These things make me feel blessed'

At their first solo performances over the weekend, Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah and runner-up Sylvester Sim both showed that they are stars in their own right. Even as he was singing onstage, a mak cik (Malay auntie) strode up to him and planted a kiss on his cheek.

There was controversy at the press conference just after the final show. Sly was signed to BMG then rather than a few days later and the network indicated that they believe that there will be no World Idol 2 contest which is why some voted for Taufik...
